“I shouted and waved my arms around in a fairly accurate rendering of a crazy monkey.”

The same tactic worked for the main character in the book and TV miniseries, Shogun.

Excellent advice and attitude that you have and as mentioned by Dylan useful for men too. I’m a 6ft 2in hefty 47 yr old male and confident out in the world and yet I have still encountered moments of similar intimidation or persons trying to con me and I have also found that turning into a berserker works wonders in scaring any would be assailants, running.

Great advice, Lady Juliana. I’ll recommend it to my female friends of whom there are many, especially the younger ones. Vince Brisbane Australia

And after all the above, you can still call me a lady… guess I didn’t get dirty enough.

Some fine advice but I would just like to caution against the placing too much faith in the first point. Sexual violence is not correlated to physical attractiveness. It is correlated to perceived vulnerability: hence very young, older, or physically and mentally disadvantaged women and boys/young men are at the highest risk of sexual assault. So looking grubby and unkempt won’t help you out too much. However, coupled with all the other strategies mentioned it should work just fine.

I hope you’ll get this. Are you the same Juliana who put out the “Not Without my Sister” book? If so, I would love for you to contact me. I just read it. I am a niece of David Berg and knew him very, very well before the COG days. I wept all the way through your book. I am so grieved at the wounding you suffered at the hands of my uncle. I have much to share with you to verify and to expand on your knowledge of D.Berg. Thank you for considering this request.

I get nervous when I’m on the road and see a young woman cycling alone on a deserted stretch. If she were my daughter, I would tell her to carry a few box cutters in easy reach.

Cant stop laughing at the image of you acting like a crazed animal though….hopefully I wont have to use this tactic, but if i do I will enjoy every second of it haha!!!
