Know well the instinct to check around see who has seen you make a fool out of yourself after a crash lol. Good luck with RAAM and fingers crossed the knees hold out. Just out of interest… what saddle are you using??
Regards
It seems you’ve spared no aspect of your training, the mileage, your diet, even the beer at the end of a long ride! So sorry about your fall, hope you’re all healed for RAAM. Best of luck, I will be following!
Reading about your rides keeps me focused on a full recovery! I have watched “Inspired to Ride” an embarrassing amount of times in the last 9 months while healing from a TBI caused by an inattentive driver. Good luck on your RAAM and “Thank You” for the inspiration.
At the age of 49 I have rarely crashed. I’ve put in 20K a year sometimes and only 2k others. This past April I was doing a simple mid afternoon sprint and interval ride on the same path I’ve done a thousand times. One moment I was listening to Heart and Soul by Twin Atlantic the next … I heard a louder than loud Thud! on my left temple. No witnesses. Check. Left side of body damaged but, all parts moving. Check. Left side of bike went down Perfect! Cripes!, what’s this horrible ringing in my ears? Carbon Record levers A-oK! Once I stood up, yup. It’s time to call the Honey to the rescue. Bike was fine, front tire blew out on a rapid underpass descent. There was a Fire Station in view, had my lady meet me there. Concussions are real and my Giro helmet saved my life. Ever time that song comes on the playlist … I’m taken back to sudden STOP!
